At WWDC, Apple unveiled a new version of the Mac Pro workstation. Due to its appearance, the computer has already received the nickname of a kitchen grater.
Compared to its predecessor, the design of the case has changed dramatically. Added the ability to self-install expansion cards.
A complete approach is implemented in the cooling system when general system purging is provided, and not individual cooling off, especially “hot” components.
The three intake fans are hidden behind the front panel.
For the convenience of moving around the studio, special handles are provided. According to preliminary information, the body can be equipped with legs or wheels.
The components provided for the Apple Mac Pro are very impressive.
Here, exclusively Intel Xeon W series processors are used with the number of computing cores from 8 to 28.
The minimum amount of RAM is 32 GB, and the maximum you can install is 1.5 TB of RAM!
The “entry-level” Mac Pros come with an AMD Radeon Pro 580X graphics card, while the more advanced ones come with one or two AMD Radeon Pro Vega II boards with dual GPUs.
Of course, given this set of components, a lot of attention is paid to the power supply. In the top version, its power is 1400 watts.
In case you are working with 8K ProRes RAW video files, 4K ProRes RAW can come in handy with the dedicated optional Afterburner model, which allows you to decode up to three 8K ProRes RAW streams and up to 12 4K ProRes RAW streams in real-time.
What surprises as much about the components of the new Apple Mac Pro is its price. Even in the very initial version with an 8-core Intel Xeon, 32 GB of RAM, an AMD Radeon Pro 580X graphics card, and a 256 GB SSD, it costs $ 6,000!
