The coolest Apple smartphone: What is known about the new iPhone 13

Apple’s autumn presentation is coming soon. Users are already frozen in anticipation of breakthrough solutions.

iPhone 13 release date

The fall presentation of Apple, which, according to analysts’ forecasts, will have a lot of new products, should take place on September 14th. If all goes according to plan, the iPhone 13 will be available for pre-order three days after the event. iPhone 13 sales can begin a week after the presentation – on September 24th. Last year, sales of the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro in Russia started on October 23 – ten days after the presentation. Some analysts predict that sales of the new device may be delayed this year: not only the coronavirus pandemic could affect the production of Apple smartphones, but also the flooding in China, as well as strikes of workers dissatisfied with salaries.
Another reason for the delay in sales of the iPhone 13 around the world may be a shortage of microchips: all production facilities, including Apple’s key supplier, TSMC, are loaded to the limit and the slightest disruption can lead to big problems.

iPhone 13 specifications

The main feature of the iPhone 13 should be a 25% smaller screen cutout, which will hide the front cameras and the Face ID sensor. According to insiders, it is not going to completely remove the “bangs” on the new Apple device and plans to do this only on the next generation of devices. There is also no data on whether Apple will combine Face ID with the Touch ID fingerprint sensor.

It is expected that along with the updated Face ID, the new generation of iPhones will use OLED matrices with a refresh rate of 120 hertz. However, only the older models – iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max – will receive top-end screens that do not fade and work with reduced power consumption. The screens will be made using LTPO technology, in which no additional controllers are required between the display and the graphics core of the smartphone, which has a positive effect on autonomy. The same technology was used in the top-end smartphones of competitors – Samsung Galaxy S21 and OnePlus 9 Pro. What the screens of the younger versions will be is not yet known. It is assumed that 6.1 inches will go to the iPhone 13 and 13 Pro, and 6.7 inches will go to the iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Under the hood, the new iPhone 13 will house the Apple A15 Bionic processor. It, like its own new M1 processors, was created by Apple using a 5-nanometer process technology. The company cannot yet cross the three-nanometer threshold and create microchips with a two-nanometer process technology: the workload of suppliers affects the speed of technology development. N5P technology will significantly improve performance and energy efficiency, as well as, as a result, the autonomy of the new iPhone 13.

The iPhone 13 camera is the biggest intrigue of the upcoming presentation. On pre-production samples of the device, bloggers and journalists saw several options at once, including a chess unit with two lenses and a flash, the appearance of which many did not like. The base iPhone 13 will be given to “inform” decisions with the iPhone 12 Pro Max – a laser rangefinder and an optical stabilization system with a sensor-shift. The iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max can be equipped with a larger module, but what the final camera will be will become clear only at the presentation. The main problem may be the case next to the camera module: if the data from insiders is confirmed, then the new iPhone will become larger, and the camera unit will be physically larger. This means that, most likely, old iPhone 12 cases will not work for new devices.

iPhone 13 battery will be better than iPhone 12

The thickness of the iPhone 13 also depends on the type of battery, which in the new device will be more powerful than the iPhone 12 and 12 Pro Max. The older version of the 13 Pro Max will be equipped with a 4352 mAh battery versus 3687 mAh in the iPhone 12 Pro Max. The base iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 Pro will receive one battery for two, its capacity will be 3095 mAh. For comparison, the iPhone 12 has a 2815 mAh battery. Insiders advise not to wait for a complete charging for the new iPhone – instead of it, in the best traditions of “caring for the environment,” Apple will separately sell a fast super-powerful charging 25-30W. The same, by the way, is charged by the MacBook Air on the M1 chip. With autonomy, not everything is clear. According to insiders, the new iPhone 13 battery will allow up to 17-19 hours on a single charge while watching videos,

New iPhone 13 body color and new storage

According to rumors, the iPhone 13 may receive two new colors at once. The first, according to PhoneArena, could be a gum-tinged pink, which could be a further development of the purple iPhone 12 shown in 2021. But the corporate blue and green colors may disappear, in their place, according to some sources, “stricter shades” will come. In addition, the trademark Pacific Blue may disappear from the market. iPhones are now available in four shades – Graphite Gray, Gold, Silver, and Pacific Blue.

In addition to changes in colors, users can expect an expansion of memory from the current maximum of 512 GB to 1 TB. This, according to insiders, is because more and more digital content is filmed exclusively on smartphones and the user needs to store large amounts of data.

Price iPhone 13

The official cost of the device was not disclosed until the premiere, but insiders expect that the entire line of Apple products due to the pandemic and the shortage of chips could rise in price by 10-20 percent. For the basic new iPhone 13, Apple can set a price of 799 dollars (58 thousand rubles at the current exchange rate). iPhone 13 Pro Max in the maximum version can be estimated at 1600-1700 dollars (116-123 thousand rubles). In Europe, the prices will be the same, but in euros. Apple traditionally refers to the European market, so it recalculates prices for its products at the euro exchange rate.
